lowernine.org is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization involved in the long-term recovery of New Orleans’ historic Lower Ninth Ward from Hurricane Katrina and the levee breaches of 2005.

Please take some time to explore our site and see how we are helping to rebuild New Orleans, and how you can help. We have a chance, now, to build a solid foundation upon which the residents of the Lower Nine, and every other affected neighborhood, can stand as they recover from the storm and remake their communities stronger than before.

Join our 365 Campaign!

This year, we are going to raise $365 from 365 people with your help! Donate $365 once or donate $30.50 monthly – it’s less than $1 a day. With your help, we’ll continue rebuilding homes here for those displaced by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Join the rebuild effort!

Lower Ninth Ward Tours

lowernine.org offers individual and small group neighborhood tours – we’ve been written up in the New York Times. Learn about this historic community and its recovery from a staff member or volunteer here at lowernine.org. Tour includes stops at Mississippi and Industrial Canal levees, a visit to one of lowernine.org’s open work sites, where you can meet and interact with our volunteers, and sights like Fats Domino’s home (pre-K). This tour is offered in exchange for a tax-deductible donation to our organization and all proceeds go to rebuilding homes in the Lower Ninth Ward. Fun, responsible tourism! Donations can be made online with a credit card, or in person by check or in cash – receipts will be issued.

Come visit the Lower Ninth Ward with us during your trip to New Orleans!
