#mcfaddenbuild: in progress

Ms. McFadden is a lifetime resident of the Lower 9th Ward. Her family’s home was destroyed by flooding during Hurricane Katrina and the levee breaches. Ms. McFadden bought her current home, a double shotgun house, in 2006. She lives on one side and her sister lives on the other. After the recent closing of the Lower 9th Ward’s only high school, Ms. McFadden was forced into an early retirement.

lowernine.org is working to repair and repaint the exterior of Ms. McFadden’s home. Teams of volunteers have replaced siding damaged both by termites and by water. We’ve sanded and scraped the exterior wood siding. The house is primed and ready to be painted! Ms. McFadden wants her house to be a various purple hues with some fun color accents!
