A failure to pass an amendment to abrogate the constitutional convention banning the government from donating or selling property below market value, is seen as yet another delay in rebuilding the lower ninth ward. In response to this news, Laura Paul says that Lowernine.org will continue their efforts in bringing people back home.
She came. She saw. She stayed. The name of this non-profit organization, lowernine.org, refers to the Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans, a predominately black neighborhood that was devastated during Hurricane Katrina and the levee breaches of 2005. Yes, the work is STILL ongoing!

“Katrina fatigue” is discussed as an obstacle for people and organizations who are still working to recover from Katrina and the levee breaks. Laura Paul says that this fatigue is intensifying as we near the decade mark since the disaster, emphasizing that there is still much work to be done.
The Lower 9: A Story of Home is a documentary showcasing four determined Lower-Ninth-Ward residents who share their most intimate stories of home, as they resume their lives over seven years after Hurricane Katrina ravaged their neighborhood.
